"Everything is connected properly and installed, but CommandIR won't detect my remotes!"

This is most often caused by another LIRC driver being loaded before lirc_cmdir - thus LIRC selects it as your primary receiver. To resolve this:

• Unload any unncessisary drivers, such as lirc_i2c
• If other devices must be used, ensure lirc_cmdir loads first by checking the order in your /etc/modules.conf

"mode2 -m shows lots of codes, but neither irw or any programs work!"

This means your lircd.conf isn't correct to your remote. To resolve this:

• Look for another lircd.conf for your remote brand and try it
  
• If your remote is a Universal or capable of multiple codesets, double check which code-set it is using and set it to match your lircd.conf
