LIRC Config: Remotes and A/V Devices

Remote Control Codes

Every remote control and it's corresponding A/V share a common set of "IR codes" - data the communicates button-presses on the remote to the A/V device.

These "IR Codes" are uniquely described by an "lircd.conf" file. The lircd.conf file can thus be used to describe a Remote Control where your button presses can be detected AND what commands can be sent to an A/V device.

LIRC Config configures the "middle man" software that responds to remotes and then issues the control commands that you configure.

Your Remotes

You may use LIRC Config to configure any remote by selecting or uploading it's lircd.conf file.

The file will be scanned and a list of buttons automatically found for you to match with software events, triggers for scripts, or translation tables to control an external device.

Simply add the lircd.conf's of the remotes you wish to configure. Note that raw code files are not accepted due to their generally poor IR control quality.

Your A/V Devices

Similarly to Your Remotes, simply add the lircd.conf files that describe the external A/V devices you wish to control from your Linux Media PC.

Click configure emitter setup to set which CommandIR emitter is attached to each A/V device and all your configuration files will be generated with the correct emitter selection.
